Hugh Green The Story of an Irish Emigrant Who Never Left Home

A Memoir

Paperback, 2011, 213pages, very good condition, name on end page

“Hugh Green was born in Raphoe, Co. Donegal, in 1931. As a young man, like many Irish people before and since, he left his home town and country in order to make a better life for himself.

Eventually he settled in New Zealand where, from humble beginnings digging trenches for the Wellington Gas Company he grew the firm of Green & McCahill to become one of the best known in the country.

He subsequently moved into property development and in his later years set up the major charitable foundation that bears his name.

All this time he continued to indulge in his first love – cattle dealing.

Throughout, the touchstones of his life have been his strong Catholic faith, his love for his family and his nostalgia for the Emerald Isle.” – Hugh Green Foundation
