Frontier of Dreams is compilation of the relevant research material used for a 13 part documentary television series of the same name. It takes events that have been pivotal in New Zealand history and examines them in depth with accompanying illustrations and photos. Good use has been made of early paintings, museum pieces, research material, books and accounts of the events. The book is comprehensive, detailed and reflects on the events in the light of our later history and the influence they have had. A vast amount of material has been summarised on maps to very good effect where a clear understanding can be grasped quickly. This in turn provides an in depth understanding of New Zealand’s and New Zealanders journey to date, the events, the influences and the culture. Easily read and interesting.
